MEV Protection

Overview​

Protecting users from toxic MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) is a core priority for OctoSwap. We use a multi-layered approach that combines the natural advantages of Monad's blockchain with advanced protection from Atlas MEV Protection.

What is MEV?​

MEV stands for Maximal Extractable Value—the profits that can be extracted by manipulating transaction order in a block (for example, through front-running, sandwich attacks, or other techniques). This can lead to worse prices for users and hidden costs on trades.

How OctoSwap Keeps You Safe​

Monad Architecture: By design, Monad does not use a public mempool. This means transactions are not visible before being confirmed, which eliminates classic front-running and sandwich attacks at the network level.

Atlas MEV Protection (FastLane Labs): For an extra layer of safety, OctoSwap integrates Atlas MEV Protection. Atlas uses on-chain, smart contract–driven auctions to enforce MEV protection at the application level, defending against more advanced and toxic MEV strategies.

How Atlas MEV Protection Works​

Private Transaction Bundling: When MEV protection is enabled, your swaps are routed through Atlas's secure relay. Transaction details remain private until finalized, making it extremely difficult for attackers to extract MEV.

On-Chain Auction Module: Atlas leverages smart contracts to protect trades, removing the need to trust external block builders or centralized relays.

Better Pricing: With Atlas, any possible MEV rebate is applied directly to your swap as an improved price—so you simply receive more tokens for your trade.

How to Use MEV Protection​

User Choice: MEV Protection is off by default. You can activate it anytime by toggling the MEV protection option in the swap settings tab. This gives you control and flexibility based on your trading preferences.

Once activated, MEV protection works automatically in the background. Your swap process stays fast and easy—no technical steps required.
